Bakayoko makes scoring debut

Amadou Bakayoko came off the bench to score on his debut for Southport as they won 2-0 at Braintree.

The visitors arrived having won just two of their last 10 matches and Bakayoko, who joined from Walsall on Thursday, netted late on to seal the win after Luke George opened the scoring.

Joe Connor had a great chance for Southport inside five minutes when he volleyed over the bar from 12 yards and Luke Foster nearly gave the Yellows the lead, heading towards goal only for Braintree’s Nick Hamann to react well to tip it past the post.

George’s goal came in the 69th minute as the midfielder drilled home from the edge of the box and Bakayoko netted 15 minutes later when he diverted Richard Brodie’s cross home to secure victory.
