A last-gasp goal by Luke Foster helped Southport sneak past Altrincham 2-1 for their first win of the Conference campaign.
The defender rose to head home a Johnny Gorman free-kick in injury time.
Southport opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Tom Marshall failed to clear a loose ball in the penalty area. John Marsden headed against the post, but Richard Brodie pounced from the rebound to bundle the ball into the net.
Steven Gillespie levelled for Altrincham on the hour mark, volleying in right-footed from six yards after Marshall flicked on Adam Griffin’s corner.
The match appeared to be heading for deadlock, but the Sandgrounders kept fighting and Marshall made his second crucial mistake of the match, fouling Richard Brodie for the free-kick that led to Foster’s winning goal.
