Match Report – BBC Sport – 05/04/2003

Southport came from a goal down to earn a draw at strugglers Woking thanks to a Peter Thompson strike.
The home side had taken the lead through striker Raphael Nade – but could not hold on for the much-needed win. There was action from the first whistle as Jonathan Boardman’s shot from inside the box after just 23 seconds was saved by visiting goalkeeper Steve Dickinson. Southport came back with Thompson latching onto a Chris Lane cross, only to see his firm header fly over the crossbar.
Neither side really threatened a goal for the rest of the first half, with chances few and far between.
Woking sent on Amos Foyewa at the interval and he soon made an impact, firing just over 10 minutes after the restart. The striker was in the thick of the action soon after – and to great effect as he set up a goal for his side. Nade was the scorer after 61 minutes as he netted from close range after Foyewa’s header. The lead did not last long, however, as Thompson equalised 17 minutes later.
Lane provided the cross from the right and Thompson made no mistake to shoot home into the bottom left corner of the net.
