BIRKDALE ST. JOSEPHS v. Central Swifts

This match was played at Birkdale last Saturday, St Joseph’s opening their new ground, which almost adjoins the Palace Station, and is situated between the Railway line and the Esplanade. The ground has been presented to the club by Mr. Weld Blundell. The game itself was of rather an uninteresting nature, the home team being quite out of their usual form, and neither teams being fully represented. O’Connor kicked off for the home team who pressed till close on half time when from a free kick Harrison scored for the Central. In the second half the home team were overplayed, and two goals were registered for the Central, both of which were disputed.
Result – Central, one goal and two disputed; St Josephs’ nil. Next Saturday the home team meet a scratch team from Blackburn, on the home ground
