Raised in Cannock, Charlie Dixon and his brother faced opposition from their father regarding football. Despite this, Dixon earned a spot in the Football League with Bournemouth, making 25 appearances during the 1928–29 season after failing to break into Sunderland’s League team.He joined Connah’s Quay alongside Robert Taylor and later moved to Nelson during their disastrous final League season, where the team conceded 113 goals and lost all 21 away games. However, Dixon managed to score his only Football League goal during his 60-match career while playing for Nelson.Dixon spent his working life as an insurance agent. Unfortunately, his retirement years were marred by severe strokes, and he spent his final year in care.
