A consistent second team performer at wing-half, Harry Edwards was offered a trial by Southport and was subsequently signed for 1953—54. Although not initially retained, he was re-signed for 1954—55 and made his only Football League appearance at inside-left against Workington — a surprise choice after he had only come to watch the match! All told he played in 78 Lancashire Combination games. Later he gave Chorley 3 seasons’ useful service. During his last term he was captain and coach of their Reserve side. He was re-instated as an amateur while playing local football in Wigan. A part-timer throughout his career, he left his job as a mining fitter after a back problem when 29 and has subsequently worked for Rathbones’ Bakery.
