A former pit worker, reportedly originating from Bowhill, Fifeshire, he had the unusual distinction of playing for clubs in each of England, Scotland, Wales and Eire. He joined Wrexham, initially on a month’s trial, but was released six months later without playing in their first team. At Cork Bohemians in the Irish Free State League, he played with Bill Delea (q.v.) before both joined Southport in the closing weeks of 1932—33. Although retained for the following season his contract was cancelled on 18 August 1933 and he returned to play out his career with several Irish Free State League clubs. Nothing has been heard of him since.
