Christmas day football was once a staple of the footballing calendar. The last time Southport played on Christmas day was in 1958, when they were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline against Shrewsbury Town at Haig avenue.
One year previous however there was a remarkably high scoring game at Bradford Park Avenue and it is this game we will today take a look at.
