Yeovil stayed top of the Conference table courtesy of an easy win over third-placed Southport at Huish Park.

The Glovers inflicted Southport’s second defeat of the season in emphatic fashion with striker Abdoulai Demba bagging a first-half hat-trick.

Gavin Williams, Nick Crittenden and Abdelhalim Elkholti chipped in with further goals in the second half of a one-sided game.

Yeovil forced a series of corners in the early stages and eventually made one count when Demba met Michael McIndoe’s cross to head the ball home from six yards.

Demba added his second goal in the 25th minute, slotting the ball home from 18 yards.

And in first-half stoppage time he completed his treble with another right-foot effort.

The second half brought more of the same. Glovers midfielder Williams got on the scoresheet in the 53rd minute with Demba turning provider.

The striker crossed from the right for Williams to apply the finish from six yards.

Crittenden struck in the 81st minute, scoring with his right foot. then Elkholti ensured Yeovil signed off in fitting fashion by finding the net in stoppage time.
