On This Day – 29th September

On this day in 1967, in their 40th League meeting Port beat Barrow. A bumper gate at Haig avenue saw Southport climb into second place in the Third Division but it was Arthur Peat who took the headlines, after being sent off for the first time in this seven year League career. He had not previously even received a single caution.

Future Projects

This is the penultimate article in this series of on this day articles .
If you have enjoyed looking at the information don’t worry, it is all still available. All of the information related to players who were born, who have passed away, transfers and matches that were included in the articles are available on the website on the “On This Day” page which is updated automatically every day.

Our immediate focus is on ensuring the reunion and hall of fame in November is a success, whilst our ongoing research work will be focussed on other projects which we hope may lead to further books.
