Southport 0 King’s Lynn 0

Stalemate at Haig Avenue in a game that won’t live long in the memory.

A poor game from two sides at the wrong end of the table. A shot by Dan Pike in the first minute that went straight at the ‘keeper gave us promise that there could be a lot of action but it was false hope.

It was an incredibly stop start first period with neither side able to break down the strong defences.

There was a bit more action in the second half with a few more openings, the best coming to our visitors in the 5th minute of added time which Chris Renshaw saved well to preserve his second clean sheet of the season.

Dan Pike had a great run through on goal in the 61st minute which was the home sides best effort at opening the scoring.

King’s Lynn under new manager Ian Culverhouse, returning to the dug out for the third time, have gone nine games without a win which is the worst in the league this season and has seen them slip down into 18th place but for Southport it was a welcome point after the disappointment of Tuesday evening.
