Making his debut in 1963 and his final appearance in 1975, Alex is famously remembered for scoring the goal that clinched the Fourth Division championship in 1973 v Hartlepool.
With 348 League appearances and 75 goals to his name, Alex is a household name in the town and after retiring from playing worked in a local printing firm (at one time producing the Southport programme!).
